Features the famously difficult checkerboard approach at the now-closed Kai Tak Airport. Narita World Wings
Developed by the Japanese company (and published internationally by Natsume in some regions), I Am an Air Traffic Controller 3 is the third entry in a beloved simulation series originally designed for Nintendo DS and later ported to mobile devices (iOS/Android) and even the Nintendo Switch.
To ensure a smooth gaming experience, make sure your computer meets the following system requirements:
Once you have the up and running, you’ll quickly realize that giving orders is easy—giving the right orders at the right time is hard.
Emergency aircraft automatically have priority. Clear the runway, vector other planes away, and give the emergency plane a straight-in approach. The game is forgiving with time bonuses if you handle the emergency quickly.
The graphics are functional but dated — think early 2000s PC sim. No cockpit views, no 3D towers. Also, the tutorial could be clearer about holding points and departure spacing. I lost my first three scenarios to “separation minima violations” I didn’t even know existed.
The aircraft variety is fantastic — from small props to jumbo jets — and each handles differently. The voice chatter (in Japanese with English subtitles, plus full English option) adds that authentic “busy tower” vibe. And the difficulty curve? Smooth… until it isn’t. Level 3 will humble you.
The game features highly detailed recreations of major hubs such as Haneda Airport , Narita International Airport , and even historical locations like Kai Tak Airport.
