The Noragami dub is highly recommended for both new viewers and rewatchers. It does not lose the original’s emotional core and in some scenes (Yukine’s ablution, Yato’s past with Nora) surpasses the sub.

The narrative kicks into gear when he crosses paths with Hiyori Iki, a middle school girl whose soul becomes unhinged after a bus accident intended to save Yato. This accident allows her soul to "slip" out of her body, turning her into a half-phantom existence. To fix her condition, Hiyori clings to Yato, dragging him (and the audience) into a conflict involving corrupted spirits (Ayakashi), other gods, and the dark past Yato desperately tries to hide. Instead, he uses a dry, slightly raspy, "hobo-god"
