While almost every other deck on the market used a vertical "drop-in" well or a front-loading door that hinged down, the CT-8R did something entirely different. To insert a tape, you placed it flat onto a glass panel that illuminated the cassette like a museum exhibit. You then pushed the cassette down into the chassis.
