If you want jump scares and a clear quest log, avoid this. You will hate it. But if you are tired of the same gothic mansions and zombie shooters, is a breath of stagnant, metallic air.

The developers have upgraded the audio mixing for liquids. In earlier demos, water sounded like generic splashes. In 8.1, every footstep in the flooded corridors of the "Lobe Tunnels" produces a squelch that feels uncomfortably organic. The sound design utilizes binaural ASMR techniques for the worst possible reasons—you will hear the Cyan Brain breathing behind your monitor.
