The PSP lacks a second analog stick and analog triggers. Rockstar mapped acceleration to the face buttons (X for gas, Square for brake) and steering to the analog nub—a notoriously stiff input. Players adapted by using “tap-steering” or remapping controls. Despite this, the arcade-style handling (drifting, slipstreaming, and aggressive AI rubberbanding) remains responsive.
