According to the data adjacent to page 31, amateur golfers over-estimate their ability from 175-225 yards. If you hit 3 wood from 220 yards and top it 80 yards, you have lost 1.5 strokes. Broadie’s advice: Hit a 7-iron to 150 yards. You will hit more greens and score better.
