Since its initial release, GEOlayers 3 has evolved through many versions (currently up to as of March 2026).

When the development team released GEOlayers 3 1.0, they announced that it was built from the ground up. This wasn't a patch; it was a new engine. The primary goal was to bring the flexibility of modern web mapping (like Mapbox) directly into the After Effects timeline. This architectural shift solved the biggest headache of the previous version: map style limitations. With 1.0, users were no longer stuck with a handful of preset map looks. Instead, they gained access to an infinite library of styles and the ability to create their own.
