The episode opens with a chilling sequence that defines the protagonist's life. We are introduced to a young Park Soo-ha and his father sitting in a car. The atmosphere is peaceful until they are rear-ended by another vehicle. What seems like a minor accident turns into a brutal murder.

Park Soo-ha is a high school student with an extraordinary ability—he can read people’s thoughts by looking into their eyes. Ten years before the main story, he witnessed the murder of his father. Just as the killer approaches the terrified boy, a school bus stops nearby. A high school student, Jang Hye-sung, steps out. She witnesses the crime scene. In a moment of pure bravery (and perhaps naivety), she confronts the killer and convinces him to spare the boy, using a lie about the bus driver calling the police.
