Carrier P5-2 Fail

The Intelligent Power Module converts incoming AC power to DC, then inverts it to variable-frequency AC for the compressor. When the IPM overheats or suffers internal shorted transistors, it trips protection circuits. P5-2 is the immediate result.

Restore power (carefully). Measure DC bus voltage between P and N on IPM. Nominal: 310-350V DC (for 230V AC input). Erratic or missing DC bus indicates rectifier or capacitor failure. carrier p5-2 fail

The code is a serious inverter protection fault. Ignoring it will lead to compressor burnout and much higher repair bills. The vast majority of cases are solved by replacing the outdoor main PCB , followed by compressor replacement. Always start with proper diagnostics – do not throw parts at the problem. If you see on your Carrier thermostat or board display: Restore power (carefully)

Disconnect indoor and outdoor. Measure resistance between communication terminals (e.g., A/B or 1/2). Should be <2 ohms. Measure each wire to ground – must be open (>10 MΩ).

If you are seeing this error in a specific application (such as a simulator, industrial software, or game), it usually indicates that the has exceeded its stress threshold and requires a reset or a patch update from the official support page . To help you troubleshoot further, could you tell me:
