Greg is blinded by his ego and his secrets. Jackie is blinded by guilt. Connor is blinded by adolescent rage. The horror of the film is driven by the cracks in their relationships. Had they been a cohesive unit, perhaps the intruders would have been discovered sooner. The film posits that the true horror isn't the stranger in the closet, but the silence at the dinner table.
