The Triple Lock Standard

: Basics of syntax, variables, conditionals, loops, and custom functions. Array Mastery

by Matt Smith (published January 2025), here is a detailed review of its content and effectiveness for learners.

While not a traditional "crash course," the official PHP manual has a "Getting Started" section that can be compiled into PDF. Independent developers have created "PHP: The Quick Reference" PDFs based on the manual. These are excellent for syntax lookups.

Unlike a video, where you have to scrub through a timeline to find a specific function, a PDF is searchable. If you forget how to write a foreach loop, you can simply hit Ctrl+F (or Cmd+F ) and find the syntax instantly. A well-structured PDF acts as a cheat sheet and a textbook in one.

This is where PHP shines. A good crash course PDF will spend significant time on $_GET and $_POST . These are used to collect form data after submitting an HTML form.

Search GitHub for php-crash-course.pdf . Many educators upload their Open Source course materials here. Look for repositories with high stars and recent commits (avoid PDFs written for PHP 5.x—version 7.4 or 8.x is essential).

Happy coding—and welcome to the world of dynamic web development.
