Rare, but iconic. A Gatillera is a woman who has crossed the line from monja to soldier. She has usually been assaulted or lost a family member to the rival gang. To be a Gatillera is to abandon femininity as the street defines it.
She is used primarily for deception. A rival gang member will not shoot a woman immediately; that hesitation is when she pulls the trigger. Her life is brutal. She is sexually exploited by her own homeboys (a dark secret of the MS culture) and used as a mule. Her death is often the most gruesome; rival gangs (like Barrio 18 ) will torture a Gatillera publicly to demoralize the MS.
