The 1980s were a goldmine for high-production rock and experimental synth-pop, but for every Def Leppard or Duran Duran , dozens of incredible bands fell through the cracks of record label restructuring and shifting trends. In Part 64 of our deep-dive series, we’re uncovering four rarities that define the glitz, the melody, and the neon-soaked atmosphere of the decade.

The band’s label, “Rising Sun Records,” folded two weeks after the album’s release. Most of the 1,000 pressed copies were used as promotional coasters in Nashville bars. A sealed copy sold for $2,700 on eBay in 2022. The master tapes were allegedly lost in a moving van fire.

A near-mint promo copy sold at a Tokyo record fair in 2023 for ¥320,000 (~$2,150).
