A three-months-later scene shows the Byers family moving out of Hawkins. Eleven, now living with them, reads a speech Hopper wrote for her about keeping the door open three inches. As the Byers’ car drives away, Mike is left on the curb. And in a post-credits scene, we’re whisked to a snowy Russian prison, where guards bring a prisoner to feed to a Demogorgon... and mention “the American.” Hopper lives.
