The taper begins. Less mileage, more rest, more mental preparation. The actual marathon is now 21 days away. The gun start will be real. The race bib will be real. The 42.195 kilometers will be brutally, beautifully real.
I started crying at Kilometer 18. Not from pain. From release. Because for the first time, I didn’t run away from the hard feelings. I ran through them.
