What is Lent? And When Does Lent Start?

"Dil todna mera, uski aadat hai... Woh bewafa hai, yeh fitrat hai"

Faakir, hum apne haal mein masroof rahe, Faakir, hum apne haal mein masroof rahe, Kya jaane woh kis ki taraf dekhte hain…

Sudarshan Faqir was a legendary Punjabi and Urdu poet who wrote extensively about loss, existentialism, and the often-cruel irony of life. He wrote "Allah Janta Hai" (God Only Knows) during a period of deep personal reflection. However, it was Jagjit Singh’s haunting composition in the album Sajda (or sometimes Insights depending on the release) that gave these words wings.

In India and Pakistan, the phrase "Allah Janta Hai" has become a common vernacular sigh. When someone is falsely accused, when a lover is cheated, or simply when life is unfair—people whisper these two words.
