Windows - Audirvana

Audirvana Windows limits the non-essential processor interrupts during playback. It tells the CPU to prioritize the audio thread over background network tasks or system indexing. This "isolation" approach results in a blacker background and a more open soundstage.

Historically, Audirvana looked like a ported Mac app. Not anymore. The latest versions feature a native Windows UI that feels responsive and fast. audirvana windows

Standard players read a few seconds of audio from your hard drive, play it, then read more. This causes CPU spikes and hard drive noise (electrical interference). Audirvana loads the entire track into your PC’s RAM before playing. This reduces jitter and noise floor dramatically.

On Windows, this is a significant challenge. The Windows Audio system (MME, DirectSound, and even WASAPI to a lesser extent) traditionally resamples audio. If you play a 44.1kHz CD rip, Windows might secretly upsample it to 48kHz, introducing distortion and degrading the signal.
