Koel Mallik, a prominent figure in the Bangladeshi film industry (Dhallywood), represents a unique case study in the evolution of South Asian stardom. This paper analyzes Mallik’s entertainment content and her strategic navigation of popular media from her debut in the mid-2000s to the current OTT (Over-The-Top) and social media era. Moving beyond traditional film analysis, this study examines how Mallik has cultivated a durable brand identity through a dichotomy of on-screen roles (romantic heroine vs. contemporary urban woman) and off-screen digital persona. Using a framework of media convergence and star studies, this paper argues that Mallik’s longevity stems from her ability to transition from a producer-driven film star to an audience-engaged content creator, leveraging Instagram, YouTube, and digital endorsements to maintain relevance in a fragmented media landscape.
