In the pantheon of punk rock fusion, few bands have danced along the genre fault lines with as much reckless joy as . Emerging from the Orange County, California, skate-punk boom of the mid-90s, the band refused to stay in a single lane. Combining the breakneck speed of punk, the rhythmic bounce of hip-hop, and the infectious hooks of power-pop, Zebrahead carved a niche so unique that it became a genre of its own: "punk-rap."

Before the records, there was the demo tape. Formed in 1996 by vocalist/guitarist , vocalist/bassist Ali Tabatabaee , and drummer Ed Udhus , the band’s early sound was chaotic. While most of their peers (Blink-182, NOFX) stuck to traditional punk structures, Zebrahead introduced a secret weapon: Ali’s rapid-fire Persian-American rap flow.
