Before running the resetter for the second or third time, perform the "Waste Ink Tank Mod." Open the printer case, locate the waste ink tube (usually on the far right side), and reroute it into an external plastic bottle. Once you externalize the waste ink, you can run the Adjustment Program indefinitely without any risk of damage.

Run the adjustment program executable. For newer Windows versions (Windows 10/11), you may need to use Compatibility Mode (set to Windows XP). Select Model: Stylus Photo 1400 from the model name dropdown, and click Enter Adjustment Mode: Particular Adjustment Mode and select Waste ink pad counter Initialize: Check the "Main pad counter" box, then click Initialization . The program will prompt you to turn off the printer.

This process requires Windows (Windows 7, 8, 10, or 11 – 32-bit or 64-bit). It rarely works natively on Mac OS.
