(O Glorious St. Anthony, your intercession is very popular before God. You spent your whole life in the service of Christ. You are the helper of lost things and the supporter of the afflicted.)
Translation: "Oh Lord Anthony, we ask for your mercy and power to grant us a deep understanding of your person. We ask you to bless us with healing for our soul. Amen."
Before praying the Novena, it is helpful to know why St. Anthony is so powerful. Born Fernando Martins de Bulhões in Lisbon, Portugal (1195), he joined the Franciscan order after being inspired by the martyrs. Renowned for his brilliant preaching and deep knowledge of Scripture, he was declared a by Pope Pius XII.
