Modern Warfare 2's campaign is great (RIP Ghost), but the game lived on Rust, Terminal, and Highrise. Most "highly compressed" builds strip out the multiplayer .iwd files entirely. You won't be using IW4x or AlterWare clients on a broken repack. Or did you learn the hard way

MW2 (2009) is abandonware-adjacent, but it is freeware. The only places offering "highly compressed" installers are shady file hosts (MediaFire, Mega, Rapidgator). These files are frequently wrapped in password-protected .RARs containing:
(single player) or iw4mp.exe (multiplayer). For multiplayer, you may need a LAN emulator like TeknoMW2 or IW4x – a community client that adds dedicated servers and anti-cheat.
