It is important to note that the Warmastered edition does change the core gameplay loop. You still collect currency (Souls), solve block puzzles, unlock new traversal tools (Abyssal Chain, Void Walker), and fight massive demons.
The only caveat is that Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition is a different beast entirely. If you are playing for the story, start here. War is a brutish, silent protagonist, and his character arc—from disgraced prisoner to furious avenger—is best enjoyed with the graphical polish this edition provides. As players progress, War unlocks secondary weapons (like the Scythe and the Gauntlet) and a variety of Wrath abilities (magical skills). On a modern PC monitor, the game looks incredibly sharp. The textures have been doubled in resolution, giving War’s armor and the crumbling concrete of the city a tangible quality.
