As a grown hero, Lam-ang grows bored. He hears of the beautiful, wealthy heiress Ines Kannoyan from the town of Calanutian (or Kalanutian). Despite warnings that many suitors have been rejected, Lam-ang decides to court her. He asks his mother to prepare his magical rooster and his greyhound dog.
However, a giant suitor named Sumarang blocks Lam-ang’s path and challenges him for Ines. Lam-ang easily defeats Sumarang, tearing out his fingernails and teeth. The wedding proceeds with great feasting, requiring nine carabaos (water buffaloes) and countless inaracan (rice cakes).
