28 Days Later...

Released in 2002, is a landmark post-apocalyptic horror film that revitalized the zombie genre for the 21st century. Directed by Danny Boyle and written by Alex Garland , the film follows Jim , a bicycle courier who awakens from a coma to find London deserted following the outbreak of a highly contagious "Rage" virus.

The film’s final line is a quote from the English poet John Dryden: "Let us be lovers and a healthier nation." Jim, Selena, and Hannah lie in the grass, forming a human "N" and "O" (for "No") to signal a rescue plane. They have survived the Rage, but more importantly, they have chosen to trust each other. En route, they destroy a family home overrun with infected and experience the collapse of order. Upon reaching Manchester, they find the military, not a cure. Major Henry West (Christopher Eccleston) leads a small group of soldiers in a fortified mansion. He reveals the message was a ruse to lure women for the soldiers’ “re-population” plan. The soldiers attempt to assault Selena and Hannah, leading to a violent escape. Frank is killed. Jim is shot but survives. Selena and Hannah return to kill the soldiers, and Jim executes Major West. The trio signals a passing fighter jet with a bedsheet reading "HELLO." The film ends with them surviving in a remote cottage, awaiting a future that is uncertain but hopeful.
