The idea for "Wish You Were Here" was born out of a desire to pay tribute to Syd Barrett and to express the band's feelings about his departure. The album was recorded in 1975, and it features some of Pink Floyd's most beloved tracks, including the title song "Wish You Were Here", "Have a Cigar", and "Shine On You Crazy Diamond".
